DEVOTIONAL TITLE: ALIVE?

KEY VERSE:

“But God, who is rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us, even when we were dead in trespasses, made us alive together with Christ…” — Ephesians 2:4–5 (NKJV)

DEVOTIONAL MESSAGE:

Are you truly ALIVE?

Not just breathing, moving, existing, going through routines or achieving—but spiritually alive?

There’s a difference between existing and living. Between survival and revival. Many walk, work, and worship with breath in their lungs but emptiness in their souls. Scripture reminds us that before Christ, we were dead in sin. That means disconnected from the Source of true life—God Himself.

Many people exist, but few truly live. Outside of Christ, we may be physically active, but we are spiritually dead—cut off from the source of real life. Sin numbs the soul, steals our joy, and blinds us to what it really means to be alive.

But God didn’t leave us there.

Through Jesus, we’re not just saved—we’re made alive. Not improved, not patched up—but raised from death to life. This new life isn’t earned by effort; it is received by grace.

Being ALIVE in CHRIST means:

You have peace that isn’t shaken by circumstances.

You carry hope even in the darkest valleys.

You are free from the grip of guilt and shame.

You walk with purpose, not just pressure.

You experience love—not based on your perfection, but on His sacrifice.

Walk in purpose, not just pace

Live in peace, not just pressure

Carry joy, not just the weight of the world

Be sensitive to God’s voice and presence

Overflow with spiritual fruit, not just spiritual routine

So the real question isn’t “Are you alive?” biologically—but SPIRITUALLY ALIVE.

Are you alive to God? Or numb to His presence?

Are you alive in purpose? Or just stuck in patterns?

God’s Spirit gives new breath to dead places. He revives what religion and routine cannot. He wants you fully awake, fully surrendered, fully alive.

If you feel distant, dry, or weary—Jesus is still in the business of bringing dead things back to life. You don’t have to settle for survival. In Him, you are truly alive.

PRAYERS:

Lord Jesus, forgive me for times I’ve lived like I was still dead in sin. I don’t want to just exist—I want to be alive in You. Breathe new life into dry places. Wake up my spirit to Your will, Your presence, and Your truth. Revive me. I surrender every lifeless part to Your resurrection power. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Jesus, thank You for making me alive. Breathe fresh life into me today—revive my joy, restore my strength, and help me walk fully in the power of Your resurrection. Amen.

John 10:10 – “I have come that they may have life, and have it more abundantly.”

Romans 6:11 – “Consider yourselves dead to sin, but alive to God in Christ Jesus.”

Colossians 2:13 – “He made you alive with Him, having forgiven all our trespasses.”

Galatians 2:20 – “I no longer live, but Christ lives in me…”

Ezekiel 37:5 – “I will cause breath to enter you, and you shall live.”

TODAY’S CHALLENGE:

Take inventory of your heart today. What areas feel dry, disconnected, or numb?  

Ask yourself: Am I fully alive in Christ—or just spiritually surviving?

Invite God to breathe on them.

Ask: "Lord, what does being fully alive in You look like for me this season?"

Spend a few minutes in prayer, inviting Him to revive any dry areas in your heart.
