ANCHOR SCRIPTURE:

INTRODUCTION

This verse was written by Apostle John to commend Gaius, a faithful believer who demonstrated genuine Christian love through hospitality, generosity, and support for fellow believers and strangers. God values not only our faith but also our faithfulness in serving others. True Christianity is revealed by practical acts of love, kindness, and sacrificial service.

DEVOTIONAL MESSAGE

The Christian life is not merely about attending church services, quoting Scriptures, or professing faith publicly. Genuine Christianity is demonstrated through faithful acts of love toward others. Apostle John praised Gaius because his faith was visible in his actions. He consistently showed kindness and hospitality both to fellow believers and to strangers.

Many people are willing to help when there is recognition, applause, or personal benefit. However, God commends those who remain faithful even when nobody is watching. The service of Gaius was not motivated by personal gain but by genuine love for Christ.

Furthermore, John specifically mentioned "strangers." This teaches that Christian love extends beyond family, friends, and familiar church members. It includes those we do not know personally. The Apostle John expressed profound joy when fellow believers testified about Gaius' steadfast commitment to God's truth. John's joy was not merely because Gaius knew the truth intellectually, but because he consistently walked in it. Today, many people claim to know the truth, yet their lifestyle contradicts their confession. God is not looking for believers who merely quote scriptures but for disciples whose conduct validates their faith. God's desire for His children extends beyond financial abundance, physical health, career advancement, and material success. According to 3 John 1:2, God's pattern is that outward prosperity should correspond with inward spiritual prosperity.

Many people pursue wealth while neglecting their souls. Others seek physical well-being but ignore their spiritual condition. However, the Apostle John reveals a divine principle: the prosperity of the soul is the standard by which every other aspect of life should prosper.

The soul consists of the mind, will, and emotions. A prosperous soul is one that is filled with God's Word, governed by the Holy Spirit, free from bitterness, walking in obedience, and growing daily in faith and godliness.
