LIVING AS GOD’S OWN IN A CORRUPT WORLD

THE WORDS OF TRUTH DAILY DEVOTIONAL
May 20th, 2026

𝕋𝕀𝕋𝕃𝔼:
LIVING AS GOD’S OWN IN A CORRUPT WORLD

ANCHOR SCRIPTURE

“And we know that we are of God, and the whole world lieth in wickedness.” - 1 John 5:19

DEVOTIONAL MESSAGE

The greatest identity a person can possess is to belong to God. In a world controlled by sin, deception, rebellion, immorality, hatred, pride, and spiritual darkness, the believer stands as God’s redeemed possession. The Apostle John boldly declared, We know that we are of God.” This is not a statement of doubt, assumption, or religion; it is a statement of divine assurance.

To be “of God” means to be born again through faith in Jesus Christ, separated from the power of darkness, and translated into the kingdom of God’s dear Son. Salvation is not merely church attendance or religious activity. It is a spiritual transformation produced by the Holy Spirit. When a person genuinely encounters Christ, old things pass away and all things become new.

The second part of the verse reveals a painful reality: the whole world lieth in wickedness. The systems of this world are largely governed by sinful desires, satanic influence, ungodly philosophies, and rebellion against God. Many people celebrate evil, resist truth, and reject holiness. Darkness is increasing in many places because people have abandoned the fear of God.

Yet believers are called to shine as lights in darkness. God did not save His children to blend with corruption but to reveal His nature on earth. Christians must not allow worldly culture to redefine holiness, truth, righteousness, purity, humility, or obedience.

To know that we are of God should produce confidence, separation from sin, spiritual boldness, and eternal focus. A child of God must daily examine his life:

  • Do my actions reflect Christ?
  • Is my life different from the world?
  • Am I walking in obedience to God’s Word?
  • Is eternity my priority?

Being of God means living under God’s authority, walking in holiness, loving righteousness, and resisting compromise. Though the world grows darker, God’s people must grow brighter.

The believer must never forget that heaven is real, eternity is certain, and Jesus Christ is coming again. Those who truly belong to God must remain faithful until the end.

  1. To understand the believer’s identity in Christ.

  2. To recognize the spiritual condition of the world.

THE PRESERVING POWER OF THE NEW BIRTH

THE WORDS OF TRUTH DAILY DEVOTIONAL
May 19th, 2026

𝕋𝕀𝕋𝕃𝔼:
THE PRESERVING POWER OF THE NEW BIRTH

ANCHOR SCRIPTURE

“We know that whosoever is born of God sinneth not; but he that is begotten of God keepeth himself, and that wicked one toucheth him not.” — 1 John 5:18 (KJV)

DEVOTIONAL MESSAGE

The new birth is not merely a religious experience; it is a divine transformation that transfers a person from the kingdom of darkness into the Kingdom of God. When a man is genuinely born again, heaven places a mark of ownership upon him. The devil may attempt attacks, temptations, afflictions, accusations, and intimidations, but he cannot successfully overpower the believer who abides in Christ.

The statement, “the wicked one toucheth him not,” does not mean believers will never face battles. Rather, it means Satan cannot gain permanent dominion, ownership, or destructive control over the life of a child of God who walks in obedience and holiness.

A careless believer becomes vulnerable through sin, compromise, prayerlessness, bitterness, disobedience, and worldly living. But the believer who keeps himself in purity, prayer, and fellowship with God remains under divine covering.

The preserving power of God is available for every genuine child of God. The blood of Jesus still speaks. The Holy Spirit still convicts. The Word of God still sanctifies. Divine preservation is real for those who abide in Christ.

In a world filled with evil, corruption, seduction, demonic oppression, and spiritual attacks, believers must remain spiritually alert. Holiness is still the shield of the saints. Righteousness still exalts. Prayer still destroys darkness. The presence of God still terrifies the kingdom of hell.

Today, God is reminding you that victory over the wicked one is possible through Christ. You are not called to live in fear but in authority, purity, and spiritual confidence.

BIBLICAL OBJECTIVES

  1. To understand the meaning of the new birth.

  2. To know that genuine salvation brings divine protection.

  3. To recognize the danger of living carelessly as a believer.

  5. To strengthen believers against satanic attacks.

  6. To build confidence in the power of Christ.

  7. To encourage steadfastness in prayer and the Word.

  8. To reveal the believer’s authority over darkness.

  9. To awaken spiritual vigilance in these last days.

  10. To prepare believers for eternity with Christ.

HYMN

A Mighty Fortress Is Our God
Martin Luther

Message:
This hymn emphasizes God’s protection, victory over Satan, and the believer’s confidence in divine preservation.

1. A mighty fortress is our God,
a bulwark never failing;
our helper he, amid the flood
of mortal ills prevailing.
For still our ancient foe
does seek to work us woe;
his craft and power are great,
and armed with cruel hate,
on earth is not his equal.

2. Did we in our own strength confide,
our striving would be losing,
were not the right Man on our side,
the Man of God's own choosing.
You ask who that may be?
Christ Jesus, it is he;
Lord Sabaoth his name,
from age to age the same;
and he must win the battle.

3. And though this world, with devils filled,
should threaten to undo us,
we will not fear, for God has willed
his truth to triumph through us.
The prince of darkness grim,
we tremble not for him;
his rage we can endure,
for lo! his doom is sure;
one little word shall fell him.

4. That Word above all earthly powers
no thanks to them abideth;
the Spirit and the gifts are ours
through him who with us sideth.
Let goods and kindred go,
this mortal life also;
the body they may kill:
God's truth abideth still;
his kingdom is forever!

THE NEW BIRTH DEMANDS A HOLY WALK

THE WORDS OF TRUTH DAILY DEVOTIONAL
May 18th, 2026

𝕋𝕀𝕋𝕃𝔼:
THE NEW BIRTH DEMANDS A HOLY WALK

ANCHOR SCRIPTURE

“We know that whosoever is born of God sinneth not; but he that is begotten of God keepeth himself, and that wicked one toucheth him not.” - 1 John 5:18

INTRODUCTION

1 John 5:18

“...he that is begotten of God keepeth himself, and that wicked one toucheth him not.”

This scripture reveals that genuine salvation produces a transformed life. A believer who is truly born again does not continue comfortably in sin. Through the help of the Holy Spirit, he watches over his life, guards his heart, resists temptation, and separates himself from evil. The grace of God does not encourage careless living; it empowers righteous living.

DEVOTIONAL MESSAGE

The new birth is not merely a religious experience; it is a spiritual transformation. When a person becomes born again through faith in Jesus Christ, the nature of God is planted within him. This divine nature changes desires, thoughts, speech, and conduct.

The statement, “he who has been born of God keeps himself,” teaches personal spiritual responsibility. Although salvation comes by grace, believers are commanded to guard their hearts, resist sin, avoid worldly corruption, and remain spiritually alert. A careless believer opens doors to temptation, spiritual weakness, and attacks from the enemy.

Keeping oneself involves:

  • Daily prayer
  • Obedience to God’s Word
  • Avoiding sinful associations
  • Walking in holiness
  • Living under the control of the Holy Spirit
  • Maintaining purity in thoughts and actions

The devil constantly seeks opportunities to destroy destinies, but a believer who abides in Christ enjoys divine protection and victory. Holiness is not bondage; holiness is safety. Purity preserves spiritual authority.

Many people claim to know God, yet their lifestyle denies Him. True Christianity is not in outward appearance alone but in inward transformation. The evidence of salvation is a changed life.

God is calling believers back to genuine holiness, discipline, righteousness, and spiritual watchfulness. The world may celebrate compromise, but Heaven honors purity.

BIBLICAL OBJECTIVES

  1. To understand the meaning of the new birth.

  2. To develop hatred for sin.

  3. To encourage holy living daily.

  4. To strengthen spiritual discipline.

  5. To resist worldly corruption.

  6. To maintain intimacy with God.

  7. To walk in obedience to Scripture.

  8. To preserve spiritual sensitivity.

  9. To enjoy victory over the enemy.

  10. To prepare believers for eternity with God.

CHARACTERISTICS OF THOSE BORN OF GOD

  1. They love righteousness — Psalm 11:7

  2. They obey God’s Word — John 14:15

  3. They avoid habitual sin — 1 John 3:9

  4. They love fellow believers — 1 John 4:7

  5. They pursue holiness — Hebrews 12:14

  6. They overcome the world — 1 John 5:4

  7. They are led by the Spirit — Romans 8:14

  8. They practice self-control — Galatians 5:22–23

THE NEW BIRTH PRODUCES A HOLY LIFE

THE WORDS OF TRUTH DAILY DEVOTIONAL
May 17th, 2026

𝕋𝕀𝕋𝕃𝔼:
THE NEW BIRTH PRODUCES A HOLY LIFE

ANCHOR SCRIPTURE

“We know that whosoever is born of God sinneth not; but he that is begotten of God keepeth himself, and that wicked one toucheth him not.”1 John 5:18 (KJV)

KEY VERSE

“If any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.”2 Corinthians 5:17

DEVOTIONAL MESSAGE

The new birth is not merely a religious experience; it is a divine transformation. When a person is genuinely born of God through faith in Jesus Christ, the nature of God begins to operate in that person. The apostle John boldly declared that whoever is born of God does not continue living in habitual sin. This means that the true child of God no longer finds comfort, pleasure, or identity in sin.

Salvation changes the heart. Before salvation, sin controls a person’s desires, thoughts, and actions. But after salvation, the Holy Spirit begins the work of sanctification, producing righteousness, purity, obedience, and hatred for evil. A born-again believer may fall into weakness, but such a believer will not remain comfortably in sin because the Spirit of God convicts, corrects, and restores.

The statement “the wicked one toucheth him not” reveals the protection and preservation available to those who abide in Christ. Satan seeks to destroy lives through temptation, compromise, addiction, immorality, pride, bitterness, and rebellion. However, the believer who walks in holiness, prayer, and obedience enjoys victory through Christ Jesus.

Holiness is not self-righteousness. It is the evidence that Christ truly lives within us. A holy life glorifies God, influences others positively, and prepares believers for eternity. The grace of God is not a license to sin; rather, it empowers believers to overcome sin.

Many people profess Christianity outwardly but secretly practice ungodliness. God is calling His children back to purity, truth, repentance, and sincere devotion. The world must see Christ reflected in our words, character, relationships, decisions, and conduct.

Today, examine your heart sincerely. Are there hidden sins, secret compromises, unforgiveness, immoral habits, pride, dishonesty, or spiritual laziness? God desires genuine repentance and total surrender. The power to live holy comes through daily fellowship with Christ, consistent prayer, meditation on God’s Word, and yielding to the Holy Spirit.

The new birth must produce a transformed life.

A king gave his servants pure white garments and instructed them to keep the garments clean until his return. When the king returned, only those with clean garments were welcomed into the palace celebration.

Lessons:

  • Salvation must be preserved with holy living.
  • Sin stains spiritual garments.

  • Holiness keeps the believer spiritually bright.
  • The world needs believers who reflect Christ clearly.

Help me to walk in holiness, obedience, and truth daily. Let the power of the Holy Spirit strengthen me against temptation and preserve me blameless until the coming of Christ. Thank You for Your mercy, forgiveness, and salvation.

WALK IN DAILY REPENTANCE

THE WORDS OF TRUTH DAILY DEVOTIONAL

𝕋𝕀𝕋𝕃𝔼:
WALK IN DAILY REPENTANCE

KEY VERSE

“All unrighteousness is sin: and there is a sin not unto death.” - 1 John 5:17

DEVOTIONAL MESSAGE

The Apostle John reveals a deep spiritual truth in this passage: every form of unrighteousness is sin before God, yet there are sins that do not lead to spiritual death when genuinely confessed and forsaken through repentance. This scripture teaches believers to avoid carelessness toward sin while also understanding the abundant mercy available through Jesus Christ.

Sin separates humanity from God, weakens spiritual strength, destroys sensitivity to the Holy Spirit, and opens doors to affliction and bondage. However, God in His mercy grants forgiveness to those who sincerely repent and turn away from evil. The believer must therefore never justify wrongdoing or become comfortable in unrighteousness.

The phrase “sin not unto death” does not encourage believers to continue in sin. Rather, it reveals that through genuine repentance, confession, humility, and faith in Christ, forgiveness and restoration are possible. God is merciful, compassionate, and willing to cleanse every truly repentant heart.

Many people fall into spiritual compromise through anger, bitterness, pride, gossip, lustful thoughts, dishonesty, disobedience, unforgiveness, envy, and prayerlessness. These sins weaken spiritual growth and hinder fellowship with God. Yet when believers acknowledge their faults and sincerely seek God’s mercy, restoration becomes possible through the blood of Jesus Christ.

The danger arises when people deliberately continue in rebellion without repentance. Persistent hardness of heart gradually destroys spiritual sensitivity and can eventually lead to spiritual destruction. Therefore, every believer must cultivate a lifestyle of holiness, repentance, prayer, obedience, and constant dependence on the Holy Spirit.

God desires purity, righteousness, humility, and truth in His children. The Christian journey is not a license for careless living but a daily walk of sanctification. Through Christ, believers receive strength to overcome sin and live victoriously.

Today, God is calling His people to sincere repentance, genuine holiness, and renewed devotion. No hidden sin should be entertained. No secret compromise should be protected. The mercy of God remains available to every soul willing to return wholeheartedly to Him.

BIBLICAL OBJECTIVES OF THIS MESSAGE

  1. To reveal that every unrighteous act is sin before God.

  2. To encourage believers to maintain daily repentance.

  3. To warn against spiritual carelessness and compromise.

  4. To promote holiness and righteous living.

  5. To strengthen believers against recurring temptation.

  6. To restore broken fellowship between believers and God.

  7. To deepen sensitivity to the Holy Spirit.

  8. To teach the importance of confession and forgiveness.

  9. To inspire spiritual discipline and obedience.

  10. To prepare believers for eternity with Christ.

CHARACTERISTICS OF TRUE REPENTANCE

  1. Genuine sorrow for sin – 2 Corinthians 7:10

  2. Honest confession before God – 1 John 1:9

  3. Turning away from evil ways – Isaiah 55:7

  4. Desire for holiness – Hebrews 12:14

  5. Humility before God – James 4:10

  6. Obedience to God’s Word – John 14:15

  7. Hatred for unrighteousness – Psalm 97:10

  10. Consistent spiritual growth – 2 Peter 3:18

1. THE STAINED GARMENT

A young man wore a white garment to an important ceremony. While traveling, he accidentally stained the garment with mud. Instead of hiding the stain, he immediately washed the garment before entering the ceremony hall. Because he cleansed it quickly, the stain did not permanently ruin the cloth.

Lessons:

  • Sin stains the spiritual garment of believers.
  • Immediate repentance prevents deeper spiritual damage.
  • God’s mercy cleanses those who sincerely return to Him.
  • Delayed repentance hardens the heart.

2. THE DYING FIRE

A family once gathered around a burning fire during a cold night. One burning coal was removed from the fire and placed aside. Gradually, the coal lost its heat and became cold and dark.

Lessons:

  • Separation from God weakens spiritual life.
  • Sin slowly extinguishes spiritual passion.
  • Fellowship with God keeps believers spiritually alive.
  • Repentance restores lost spiritual fire.

Beloved, God is merciful, but He also demands holiness. Every hidden sin, secret compromise, bitterness, pride, immoral thought, dishonesty, and rebellion must be surrendered before Him today. Do not justify sin. Do not delay repentance. Return wholeheartedly to God while His mercy still speaks.

DEEP REPENTANCE

Restore my hunger for righteousness and help me to walk in holiness all the days of my life.

PRAYER OF REPENTANCE

to rid my soul of one dark blot,
to thee, whose blood can cleanse each spot,

fightings and fears within, without,

FLEE EVERY FORM OF EVIL

THE WORDS OF TRUTH DAILY DEVOTIONAL
May 15th, 2026

𝕋𝕀𝕋𝕃𝔼:
FLEE EVERY FORM OF EVIL

ANCHOR SCRIPTURE

“All unrighteousness is sin: and there is a sin not unto death.” — 1 John 5:17 (KJV)

KEY VERSE

“Follow peace with all men, and holiness, without which no man shall see the Lord.” — Hebrews 12:14

BDEVOTIONAL MESSAGE

Sin is not only the outward acts people condemn publicly; sin also includes every form of unrighteousness before God. Many believers avoid obvious sins like stealing, adultery, murder, or lying, yet still tolerate hidden unrighteousness such as bitterness, pride, envy, hypocrisy, unforgiveness, secret lust, corruption, hatred, dishonesty, rebellion, and prayerlessness.

The Bible clearly declares in 1 John 5:17 that all unrighteousness is sin. This means anything contrary to God’s holy nature, righteous standard, truth, and will is sin. God does not measure sin the way humans do. Men judge by appearance, but God examines the heart.

Unrighteousness separates man from God. It weakens spiritual power, destroys fellowship with the Holy Spirit, hardens the conscience, and opens doors to spiritual bondage. A person may appear religious outwardly while secretly walking in unrighteousness inwardly. Such a life cannot please God.

Many today justify sin because society normalizes it. Some excuse corruption because “everyone is doing it.” Others defend immorality, unforgiveness, greed, compromise, manipulation, or worldly living. But heaven does not adjust its standards to fit human culture. God remains holy forever.

Jesus came not only to forgive sin but also to deliver humanity from the power of unrighteousness. Through repentance, surrender, and obedience to Christ, believers can walk in righteousness and holiness daily. The grace of God is not a license to continue in sin; rather, it empowers believers to overcome sin.

A righteous life requires daily self-examination, prayer, obedience to Scripture, and sensitivity to the Holy Spirit. Every believer must ask:

  • Is my heart pure before God?
  • Are my motives righteous?
  • Am I living in hidden compromise?
  • Is there any secret sin I refuse to surrender?

God still calls His people to holiness. Heaven rejoices over genuine repentance. No unrighteousness should be entertained, excused, protected, or hidden. Today is a call to turn fully to God and walk in truth, purity, humility, and obedience.

BIBLICAL OBJECTIVES

  1. To understand that every unrighteous act is sin before God.

  2. To develop hatred for sin and love for righteousness.

  3. To cultivate holiness in thoughts, words, and actions.

ILLUSTRATIONS

1. THE HIDDEN RUST

A beautiful iron gate looked strong outwardly, but inside it was gradually rusting. One day, under little pressure, the gate collapsed completely. Hidden rust destroyed what outward beauty concealed.

LESSONS

  • Hidden sin destroys spiritual strength.
  • God sees inward corruption even when people applaud outward appearance.
  • Secret unrighteousness eventually produces visible destruction.
  • Genuine repentance must begin from the heart.

2. THE STAINED WHITE GARMENT

LESSONS

  • Even tolerated “small sins” stain spiritual purity.
  • God’s light exposes hidden darkness.
  • Believers must seek continual cleansing through Christ.
  • Holiness matters in preparation for eternity.

CALL TO REPENTANCE

Beloved, God is calling you today to forsake every unrighteous way. Do not excuse hidden sin. Do not defend compromise. Do not harden your heart against conviction. Jesus still saves, cleanses, restores, and transforms. Come to Him sincerely with brokenness and humility.

DEEP REPENTANCE

Examine your life honestly before God:

  • Secret habits
  • Corrupt dealings
  • Bitterness
