THE FATHER: SOURCE, AUTHORITY, AND ETERNAL LOVE
KEY VERSE
"For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one." - 1 John 5:7
DEVOTIONAL MESSAGE
The revelation of The Father is central to understanding God’s nature, authority, and love. In 1 John 5:7, we see the unity of the Godhead, the Father, the Word (Jesus Christ), and the Holy Spirit, working together in perfect harmony. Yet, within this unity, the Father is revealed as the Source, the Origin, and the One from whom all things proceed.
The Father is not distant or abstract. He is intentional, relational, and deeply invested in His creation. From the beginning, He demonstrated His fatherhood through creation, provision, correction, and redemption. He is the One who calls, chooses, nurtures, disciplines, and restores.
To know God as Father is to move beyond religion into relationship. Many people know God as Creator or Judge, but few truly embrace Him as Father. This revelation transforms fear into love, insecurity into identity, and confusion into purpose.
The Father’s love is not passive, it is active and sacrificial. He gave His Son so that we might be reconciled to Him. His desire is not just to rule over you, but to dwell with you, guide you, and shape your destiny.
Understanding the Father requires:
- Submission to His authority
- Trust in His wisdom
- Acceptance of His love
- Obedience to His will
When you truly encounter the Father, your identity changes, you are no longer lost, but adopted; no longer striving, but secured; no longer empty, but filled.

DEEP REPENTANCE
Recognize areas where you have resisted His authority, ignored His voice, or lived outside His will. True repentance involves a change of heart and direction.
PRAYER OF REPENTANCE
Father,
I come before You with a humble heart. I acknowledge my sins and my distance from You. I have walked in my own ways and neglected Your will. Forgive me, cleanse me, and restore me. I receive Your love and submit to Your authority. Make me Your true child.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.

HYMN
Faith of Our Fathers
Frederick William Faber (1849)
Message:
A hymn celebrating faith passed down through generations, reflecting trust, loyalty, and devotion to the Father.
1. Faith of our fathers, living still
In spite of dungeon, fire and sword,
O how our hearts beat high with joy
Whene’er we hear that glorious word!
Faith of our fathers! holy faith!
We will be true to thee till death!
2. Our fathers, chained in prisons dark,
Were still in heart and conscience free;
And blest would be their children’s fate,
If they, like them should die for thee:
Faith of our fathers! holy faith!
We will be true to thee till death!
3. Faith of our fathers, we will strive
To win all nations unto thee;
And through the truth that comes from God
Mankind shall then indeed be free.
Faith of our fathers! holy faith!
We will be true to thee till death!
4. Faith of our fathers, we will love
Both friend and foe in all our strife,
And preach thee, too, as love knows how
By kindly words and virtuous life.
Faith of our fathers! holy faith!
We will be true to thee till death!
